| February 08, 2010 Excerpt from: iTechnologyDesign | | Empowering the Site Owner | Is the company website ever truly FINISHED? For most business owners or managers, the answer is no, the website is never finished. Just as the last round of changes were completed the next set of changes were being discussed. In part, this is because the business continually evolves, and so the marketing message also continues to evolve.
The problem of course is that many businesses (even today) still have static sites that require programmer effort to change, and therefore every change is a big deal. A call to the developer, back and forth with revisions, all the while the hour meter is running.
But there is a better way, especially for businesses that need to frequently update website content. That tool is called a content management system. Instead of having a site composed of a set of coded pages, the actual website is an online application that the user can login, and make content modifications as easily as a person would change a Word document. Premier Webworx can deliver a content managed website for your business for under $2000.

| February 07, 2010 Excerpt from: iTechnologyDesign | | If you don't take the time to understand your web presence how can you hope to improve it? | Do you know how many new visitors you received to you site last month? Do you know what percentage of your visitors found you through a search versus those that were referred from another site?
If you answer no, then you are not alone. Most business owners have no idea what their site is doing. No idea how many visitors they had or even if the site is being found. Every site that iTechnology Design develops is equipped with Google Analytics, a free statistics tool that can tell you what is working well and provide ideas for improvement. If you don't have time to read web stat reports, that's ok. We can read and interpret the reports and tweak your site to provide maximum visibility and return on investment.

| February 06, 2010 Excerpt from: iTechnologyDesign | | It's not important how small or large your company is, only how you choose to use the web. | The web can be a great equalizer. A web page is the same thing for both a mega resort company or a small bed and breakfast. Both have the same amount of space on the screen.
What separates the winners from the losers is how each chooses to use that screen. So here are my top 5 ideas to help you use that space better.
1. First Impressions DO COUNT. If your site looks like it was a 3rd graders project for computer class, then your business will come across as unprofessional and you will not be taken seriously by potential customers. Clean attractive design is critical.
2. Having accurate and up to date content (i.e. written information) is important. Content is critical to being found through organic search, but additionally, if a prospective client has a browser open looking at your site it's because they want information.
3. Technical capabilities are limitless, but just because something can be done doesn't mean it should be done. Things that blink, make noise and do other silly stuff should not be found on websites for respectable businesses. In all honesty, Microsoft researchers have determined that 67% of surfers will either mute the sound or leave sites that have a soundtrack (music sites excluded.)
4. Simple, easy to understand navigation is critical. While there are many areas to be creative with your site, navigation should not be one of them. Your menus and site structure should be easy to understand and use.
5. If you cannot find your website through organic search then rework your content and verify the page structure is correct. Page content and structure determines page rank.
